Brooklyn-based sneaker brand Greats came to us, wanting an ad that focused on the consistency, craftsmanship, and reliability of their products. In stripping the format to its barest essentials and subtly poking fun at advertising conventions, we were able to create a funny, self-referential short that emulates the no-nonsense spirit of Greats and sets it apart from the typical sneaker ad.
For the Landing Page, we decided on a no-frills approach that speaks directly to users with playful, deadpan language. We incorporated the text and structure of the original ad to create a cohesive look & feel for the campaign. The result: a landing page that plays like an extension of the ad, supplementing each line with additional information and links to the rest of the GREATS website.
For AR, we honed in on the video’s self-referential tone, creating an activation that frequently breaks the fourth wall and allows the user to see themselves as an ad. By channeling the same offbeat humor as the ad and shifting the focus to a user’s perspective, we were able to extend the campaign’s lifespan and stretch it’s messaging across platforms.
